How we Styled our 30th Birthday Party

Looking for 30th birthday ideas? Ever wondered how the professionals style their own events? Well, now you know, as we’ve shared how we styled our own 30th birthday party to be used as inspiration for your own event.

All the items we purchased for this event are linked at the end of this article.

 The Venue

We first came across the venue from the summer showcase where we created a beautiful set-up on the private grounds. With a gated entrance, and located just 9 miles from Bristol city centre with its own private grounds, lake and hot tub – we knew this was the perfect location for our girl’s only party.

As a 5 bedroom detached house, there were not only ample sleeping quarters for our guests but a beautiful, large living space, kitchen facilities and terraced area that would play host to our party with enough space to prepare food, drinks and a comfortable, relaxed area.

 The Decoration

When it came to styling our own birthday party, there were only two suppliers we had our sights set on and that’s Simply Chic Events UK and Alana’s Love. Having worked with both Emma and Charlotte at previous events, we couldn’t wait to work with them for our own celebration!

Main Living Area

Working from the simple brief of pink and gold, we gave Emma free creative reign to decorate four areas of the venue as she believed would be best. As an expert in her craft, we had absolute trust and faith that Emma would pull out all the stops and boy did she!

The light-up lights were provided by Alana’s Love and we provided our own peacock chair and stool.

To make full use of the venue and its amenities, we hired the villa for two nights. The first evening was spent with close friends at an adult slumber party, with a little one. Since there were only 6 of us, we paired each person with an individual crate containing a personalised tumbler, popcorn, popcorn box, facemask and a cocktail can.

The Bakefield provided a scrumptious large treat box consisting of cakesicles, geo hearts, shortbread cookies, mini marshmallows and 2 gluten-free biscuits. To accompany this, we ordered 3 x vanilla and 3 x milk chocolate ganache pink macarons with a gold swatch from the extremely talented Macaron by Madelaine, ordered via Instagram and posted to my home address.

We had some personalised sleepshirts hung with gold hangers and presented on a clothing rail, a retro mini popcorn machine and of course some sweets.

Mixing friendship groups can be a little tricky when they’ve never met, so we introduced some icebreaker activities before the alcohol gave everyone a confidence boost! We had a Bluetooth microphone for some karaoke fun, card games and temporary tattoos, disposable and an Instax camera for some impromptu shots.

To keep the guests sated, we added this 50cm snack platter from Three Little Figs UK.

A party isn’t a party without a bar! So we added a punch made from Smirnoff Mango & Passionfruit Vodka, pineapple juice and cranberry juice and other small accessories to level up the bar. To save the washing up the next day, we provided each guest with a personalised plastic cup so there’d be no denying who’s drink was who’s!

With sleeping space for 13 guests, we allocated the beds to keep known guests together, using gold mirror place names to mark their sleeping space – with a bottle of water and a hangover kit ready for the morning!

We added a mini arcade grab machine with some prizes to be won and some sweet treats to the bar area.

 The Hot Tub

It was somewhat of a luxury having a hot tub on site, so we not only made as much use of it as possible but decorated the area for a little extra pizzaz! We used Instant Print to produce the final sign with our own design from Canva, adorned with the balloon magic from Simply Chic Events UK.

We purchased the wet floor sign previously for a different event involving a hot tub, using nail varnish remover to wipe away the markings we didn’t wish to keep and embellished the sign with stick-on gems and letters.

The guest bikini bags were produced using resealable bags from Amazon and vinyl from Etsy, and we added the personalised beach ball and flamingo glass holders for a bit of extra flair.

The final touch was our pink standing ice bucket – otherwise known as a plant holder but who’s really telling right? – filled with ice and the all-important pink prosecco. For something a little more, we recommend making the ice cubes with edible flowers, glitter or food colouring.

 The Cake

With the 30th birthday theme as pink and gold, it was a no-brainer that we’d enlist Cake Parlour Boutique for a show-stopping piece as the queen of gold! Not only was it dripping in gold accents, but the biscoff flavouring was a real party pleaser with its subtle taste and a soft sponge.

As beautiful as the cake was, it had to be eaten and enjoyed so we cut the cake during the evening with some cake boxes on hand to allow guests to take pieces away.

Simply Chic Events UK added a little cake corner for the showstopping piece to be admired.. and then devoured!

 The Photographic Evidence

If you didn’t get an obscene amount of pics, did it even happen? Born in the 90s, we had to relive some of our childhood but have you seen the cost of disposable cameras these days!! Fortunately, Kodak has released a reusable-disposable camera, that operates exactly as a disposable camera would requiring the film to be produced, but with the ability to add new film for the next time.

We of course had our trusted Instax Camera for instant snaps, but we enlisted the help of local photographer Ali to snap some more professional keepsakes of the decor and the guests, giving a great mix of raw and random to perfect and poised.
